Antiracism

This page shows the work being done by members of Amistad UCC to identify and inform and resist racist acts in Connecticut and around the world.

As stated in our Affirmation of Liberation, we are a FREE community of faith called to witness to the LIBERATING POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY ONE!!  As such, we believe that it is our duty and responsibility to be proponents of justice and equality.

We recognize the difference between being NON-racist and ANTI-racist.  We recognize that difference is in the action of the individuals.  A NON-racist believes in their heart that ALL people are created equal and endeavors to live their life accordingly.  An ANTI-racist believes the same but is willing to take ACTION to ensure the equal treatment of all.  They are willing to take a stand and speak out against acts of racism whether intentional or not.  We believe that it is the call of the faith communities to be ANTI-racist and are willing to work to help bring about a just society.
